Beginning Ballerinas learn expanded ballet vocabulary, increase their understanding of music and rhythm, and develop more advanced movement skills. The child learns to take “barre” and “center practice” resulting in improved coordination and further refined gross motor skills. ODT stresses a healthful and nurturing approach to all the work providing students with a strong base of training that encourages the student to explore and development rhythmically and creatively.

Rhythm & Stomp (ages 7-12)

Class is designed to increase physical athleticism, while simultaneously teaching children the fundamentals of movement, rhythm and selfexpression. This activity inspires excellence; both as an individual and as a team member, encouraging
the student’s sense of fun in a group setting.

This program provides a solid basis for developing
dance technique that serves as a precursor for more
formalized/structured dance training. At this age,
class emphasis is still on creating strong bodies and
imaginative minds. The child begins to understand
that physical activity provides opportunity for
enjoyment, challenges self-expression, and
encourages social interaction. Class focuses on
cognitive and sequential learning, perceptual motor
abilities, small and large motor skill development,
body image, spatial awareness, balance and
rhythm. Curriculum includes beginning ballet
terminology and movement games that encourage
young dancers.
Workshop
Mom (or Dad) and child learn about body and movement together. The class incorporates creative dance, and basic tumbling in a fun environment where the children can interact and play.
Learn basic ballet vocabulary through movement
activities and structured games that build strong bodies, increase flexibility, encourage focus, improve listening skills, following directions, and building relationships with other children and the teacher. Curriculum includes story telling through movement, Fairy Tale Ballets,
Amazing Animals, Leaping and Learning. Stretching on the floor is explored and coordinations skills developed through movements across the floor. Tip toe walks and runs, marches, slides and gallops are used to encourage coordination and introduce musicality.
