Dracula and other Love Stories” at The Breen Center for the Performing Arts
Ohio Dance Theatre Premieres Three New Works

Cleveland – February is the month of Love and Valentines and Ohio Dance Theatre invites you to an evening that will delight the senses and stir the soul, when it premieres three new works at The Breen Center on February 10th, at 8:00pm.  This exciting evening of high drama, expressive dance, and timeless music offers a mixed program including a preview of “Dracula”, “The Dream” by choreographer Lisa Lock, an excerpt from “Carmen” and, “Beyond Courage; the Sacrifices of 1941-1945”. Featured in the program will be a special performance by quest artists from the CREDO Chamber Music String Quintet.

Audiences are treated to a sneak preview in this excerpt of “Dracula” danced by Juliana Freude and Kyle Primous. The full length version is slated to premier next Fall when Ohio Dance Theatre celebrates its 20th anniversary. Guest choreographer, Lisa Lock’s latest work, ”The Dream”, a sensuous Tango, will feature Courtney Jankovic. “I enjoy working with Lisa”, says Ohio Dance Theatre member, Courtney Jankovic.  “Even though Lisa is trained as a classical ballet dancer, her movement draws from other styles and she asks the dancer to push outside their comfort zone.” Switzerland born Lock’s choreographic work has been seen in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Honolulu and San Francisco.  Ms. Lock has performed in Switzerland and Lithuania, as well as in major European cities including Vienna, Paris, Madrid, and Edinburgh.

An excerpt from Ohio Dance Theatre’s bold interpretation of the world’s most popular opera production, “Carman” will feature Anna Trumbo as Georges Bizet's seductive and complicated temptress. Also premiering on the mixed program is Artistic Director, Denise Gula’s latest
work “Beyond Courage; the Sacrifices of 1941-1945”. This new work utilizes the extraordinary musical score of Pulitzer Prize Winner, composer Stephen Melillo.  “Beyond Courage” brings to the audience an appreciation of that which was survived and lost in the not-too-distant past and is summed up in the phrase, Bataan Death March.

The Breen Center is located at 1911 West 30th Street. Tickets are available on line at www.ohiodancetheatre.org, $18-$28 for adults.
