Amanda Edge was born in Austin, Texas and began her training with Ballet Austin and Pat Mitchell. She continued her studies in Brasilia, Brazil; at the North Carolina School of the Arts; and at the School of American Ballet. She was invited to join the New York City Ballet at the age of seventeen, and she performed principal roles in ballets by Balanchine (Harlequinade, The Steadfast Tin Soldier, Tarantella) and Jerome Robbins (Fancy Free, West Side Story). She was also featured in ballets by Peter Martins, Christopher Wheeldon and Susan Stroman. She has toured throughout Spain with Angel Corella, and appeared as the gypsy dancer in La Traviata with the New York City Opera. She left NYCB in 2006 and was an original cast member in Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular under the direction of Hal Prince. Amanda has most recently performed the role of Meg Giry in the Phantom of the Opera on Broadway.
